Account overview 2.0 + Cards controls: Monese webapp updates
Since the release of our MVP in December 2019, I and the web team have been working on new features to improve the user experience across Monese Web Application. Here’s what we came up with:
- Account overview 2.0
- Transaction details
- New navigation
- Cards controls
Account overview 2.0
When we released our MVP, one of the main concerns was that our customers might get confused with the total balance feature that puts together all accounts balance into one final value with different currencies converted to the main account currency.
After some user interviews, we found out that most of the customers did get it without any problems.
But to improve and help clarify even more this information we decided as a team to create a chart to help users visualize this information and also improve the navigation between accounts with tabs to split Personal, Business, and Other accounts. Here’s the outcome:

Transaction details
Transaction details is one of the most important feature that our customers use daily. Customers want to be able to check if a payment went through, double-check with details like IBAN, Account number, Sort code are right, and so on.
Unfortunately, this experience in Monese mobile app is not that perfect. To navigate between transactions, customers have to tap on the transaction, then tap to go back to Account Statement screen then tap again in another transaction. So we decided to improve that experience in web app, making it easier for customers to navigate more freely across transactions.
Here is the outcome of this feature planning:

New navigation + Cards controls
When we thought about adding cards controls to webapp we realized that was the moment to add a navigation/menu in the product. Up until now, customers were able to navigate throughout the product without needing it, but Cards Controls feature was a watershed for the product and its natural growth.
With this feature, customers would be able to:
- Order/Reorder physical cards
- Create virtual cards
- View card details: Number, PIN, CVC, expiring date
- Lock and unlock cards
- Cancel or Report cards stolen/lost
After passing through discovery and user testing where I could find pain points like the lack of information around virtual card and confusing information around cards status, these are the final designs:

Final thoughts
A lot has been planned around web app and the main goal is to get to the same development point as mobile app, but with improved experiences that only a web environment is able to provide.
Next big feature: payments 🙂
Looking forward to telling you everything about it
